I just spent 20 minutes trying to express my appreciation for your writings, discovered just this morning. I actually had a rather long paragraph addressing my brief spark of connection with your words and your gleanings. I tend to be a sharer as well as a hoarder, wanting to share my discoveries of beauty with those around me, only to be met with harumphs and eyes filled with-"what the hell is he talking about-again?" contrasted with my desire to collect and save and safeguard "spark worthy" findings in folders, fancy bottles, canning jars, and boxes. Only to be burdened with thoughts of: "Why did I share that?" and a myriad of clutter filled receptacles that I will someday re-visit. I forget the full content of my original paragraph (was lost by hitting an errant key) but it had something to do with the one you see here.

this is so kind. i am a sharer too (though perhaps that's obvious). don't mistake it for a burden. some things are less heavy when they're noticed, picked up, and held.

Ecological thought includes a branch called Deep Ecology which recognizes the ego-self, the social-self, and the ecological-self.

I just received this comment this morning. No sure why it’s more than a month late. Let me look into what might be best. I recall this from teaching it at University of Toronto in the early nineties. Stand by; should have something later today.

Here’s the paper by Arne Naess where he introduces the subject. The concept of “self-realization” is included. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/238099306_Deep_Ecology_in_Bucharest

So much in this rich post, on writing, on success, light, on Beauty.

“the question of Beauty takes us out of surfaces, to thinking of the foundations of things”. ⚡

(also love that we emit light!! )

Annie Dillard writes quite beautifully on light, if you’d like to follow that thread. you may like it x

Again, always it seems a beautiful sharing of thought and heart. I too believe (know is a better word) in inner light .. I've collected 100s of medieval mystics testimony of it ... burning them up, filling them with awe and wonder at the breathtaking 'possibilities' of being. your writing is hope in the dark. thank you

I’ve not finished reading this….. it is lovely. So many lovely thoughts contained within. We may be the dust of stars who return to dust but in that inbetween we radiate, we absorb, we radiate, glow. And love, love indeed fires and feeds that furnace that we are.

And some philosophers have even gone so far as to say the entire universe, all of reality and consciousness, is light:

Your writing and the excerpts of other writing opened me up and laid me bare, and I feel expanded for it. Thank you.
